Douglas B Andrews

Chief Executive Officer – Founder and Director of Stravencon Ltd

Douglas has over 28 years of experience in the healthcare industry, 21 of which were with the Schering-Plough Corporation globally where he held a series of international roles gaining extensive experience in emerging markets such as Latin America and Eastern Europe. Douglas’s experience has included senior roles in International Business Development, Product Management, Marketing, Sales and General Management. His industry experience covers Prescription Pharmaceuticals and Biochemicals, Consumer Healthcare Products and Generics. Douglas was also the Founder & CEO of Consilient Health Ltd., where he established an innovative European “virtual” generic pharmaceutical company, combining traditional pharmaceutical industry promotional techniques with more cutting edge commercial and operational technologies.

He is also a member of the Investment Committee of the National Bank of Dubai where he advises on healthcare-related investments in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.

Douglas has a B.A. (History) from Columbia College (1973) and an M.A./M.Phil. in Balkan and Russian Area Studies from Columbia University (1976).

 

Julian Attfield

Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary

Julian has 17 years of experience working as a Chief Financial and Chief Executive Officer in the global biotechnology pharmaceutical industry, and has particular expertise in working with Chinese and Indian entities.

Since January 2008 Julian has been interim Chief Financial Officer to a portfolio of early stage companies such as Smart Holograms Ltd, a developer of sensor holograms for use in healthcare diagnostics. He was UK director for the AIM flotation of: BHK Inc, a Korean stem cell Company.

Julian was and CFO and then CEO at GeneMedix plc, an AIM listed  biopharmaceutical  company from September 2000 until December 2007. GeneMedix plc (now Reliance GeneMedix plc) developed a range of biosimilar (generic biopharmaceutical) products for registration in the EU, and set up EU accredited manufacturing. Company floated on the Official List of the London and Singapore Stock Exchanges, acquired and divested a business in China, and set up manufacturing and joint ventures in Ireland and Spain. Julian led the company in early 2007 into an acquisition by Reliance Life Sciences, part of the large Reliance Industries Group of India, and a move onto the AIM market.

Previously he was Director of Finance and Administration with Sigma-Genosys Ltd, a manufacturer of biomolecules,  for six years, taking them from start-up to a trade sale to Sigma Aldrich in 1999.

Julian qualified  as chartered accountant with Andersens (now part of Deloitte & Touche) in the Cambridge Office and is a graduate in Modern Languages.

 

D. Bruce Murdoch 

Commercial Director

Bruce has over 35 years of experience in the fields of General Management, Marketing and Corporate M&A within the global bio-pharmaceutical industry.

Between 1975 and 2002 he has held a number of Senior Management positions (General Manager and Senior Vice President) with Rhone-Poulenc, AstraZeneca, Pharmacia and Schering-Plough within UK and Asian markets including Japan. He was also involved in the early entry of the pharmaceutical industry into China with a number of joint-ventures including SSPC (Sino-Swed Pharmaceutical Corp) in Wuxi. Also he has been part of the senior management teams setting up new operating units in most Asian markets.

In 2002 he returned to UK and has set up a number of small enterprises (SME’s) within UK to connect EU with Asian markets. He was also part of the original founding group who set up BiOracle Ltd, a “Point of Care” diagnostic company founded in 2003 where he became CEO in 2004. He remains an advisor to the Board.

In 2005 Bruce joined Bioaccelerate Inc as Senior Vice-President. The company then became Gardant Pharmaceuticals Inc in late 2005. Within the group he was appointed CEO of the biotechnology start-up company called Genaderm Ltd. This company was primarily involved in anti-infective and dermatological products.

In late 2006 he was appointed as Chief Business Officer of Avesthagen Ltd, one of the leading Biotechnology companies in India. During his tenure he lead the Biopharmaceutical team of 120 scientists based in India and Germany to gain approval from the India FDA for 4 “ Biosimilars” of well-known therapeutic proteins and MAbs to enter the Pre-clinical phase and cGMP scale-up.(www.avesthagen.com)

In April 2009 Bruce returned to UK to join Stravencon Ltd as Commercial Director based in London.

He graduated from Nottingham University in 1971 with an Honours Degree in Biological Sciences with Statistics. He attended London Business School in 1985 to study - Business Finance. He has been Chairman of various country branches of the Pharmaceutical Industry Associations, IFPMA and PhRMA between 1978- 2002. He is currently a member of the Institute of Directors in UK.
